Professional Mechanical Support That Matches Your Event

A mechanical issue on race day can end an athlete's event in minutes. A broken derailleur, a snapped cable, a flat tyre with no spare — these are fixable problems when the right mechanic is on site. Without one, they're just bad luck. We make sure it doesn't come to that.

Mobile Bike Mechanics provides qualified mechanical support for cycling events of all sizes — from 30-rider club sportives to 2,000-participant gran fondos. We work with race directors, event organisers, sports clubs, and corporate cycling challenge operators to design a support package that fits the event format and participant count.

Our mechanics carry pro-level tool kits, a comprehensive parts inventory, and the experience to diagnose and fix issues fast. We integrate with your event day run sheet and communicate through your team — no separate coordination required from athletes.

Full Mechanical Coverage, Start to Finish

Every event support package is tailored to your format. Here's what we can include — we'll confirm the exact scope when you enquire.

Pre-Ride Safety Checks
A mechanic station at registration or the start line. Every participant who wants a safety check gets one — brakes, gears, tyres, bolts, and headset. Fast, methodical, and reassuring for nervous riders. Flag-and-fix for anything critical before the gun fires.
Roving Neutral Support
A mechanic on a bike or motorbike following the field — available to any participant who signals a mechanical. Tube changes, derailleur adjustments, dropped chains, and brake fixes resolved on the road. For mass participation events, neutral support is the difference between a DNF and a finish.
Mechanical Paddock
A full workshop setup at your venue — workstand, full tool kit, parts inventory, and tyre pump station. Ideal for multi-lap events, enduro stages, or triathlon T1/T2 areas where participants need access to mechanical support between laps or legs.
Emergency Roadside Assist
Van-based roadside support along the course route. Participants with unfixable mechanicals — damaged frames, bent wheels, or multiple punctures — can be collected and transported back to the event precinct. Coordinates with your sweep vehicle or first aid team.
Post-Finish Repair Queue
A service station at the finish area where participants can book a quick repair — adjust a cable that shifted during the ride, fix a flat, or replace a worn brake pad before the drive home. Adds real value for participants and extends their positive event experience.
Parts & Consumables
We stock a range of common tubes (700c, 26", 27.5", 29"), tyre levers, cables (brake and gear), brake pads, chain links, and lubricant. Most minor repairs can be completed on the spot without participants sourcing their own parts. Consumables billed at cost.

From Club Rides to Major Sportives

We've supported events at every scale. Tell us what you're running and we'll build the right support model for it.

Gran Fondos & Sportives
Mass participation road cycling events. Pre-ride checks, neutral motorcycle or bike support on course, and a finish-line service station. Scale from 50 to 2,000+ participants.
MTB Enduro & XCO
Stage races, enduros, and cross-country events. Mechanical paddock at transition zones, stage starts, or the event hub. Derailleur hangers, dropper posts, tubeless repairs — we carry it all.
Criteriums & Road Races
Circuit and point-to-point road racing. Neutral support vehicle, wheel changes, and pit crew for registered club-level and open-category events.
Triathlon & Multi-Sport
Transition area mechanic support, T1/T2 bike racking assistance, pre-race safety checks, and emergency mechanical support during the bike leg. We understand UCI and TA neutral support rules.
Corporate Cycling Challenges
Team challenges, charity rides, and corporate cycling initiatives. We provide a branded mechanic station, participant briefings, and Ride2Work Day style service support for your staff or guests.
Community & Club Rides
Monthly club rides, community cycling festivals, and charity events. A single mechanic with a full kit provides significant peace of mind for organisers and riders alike — at a price that suits club budgets.

How Event Support Works

Simple to brief, easy to run on the day. Here's how we go from your first enquiry to a mechanic on your start line.

Road cyclists at an event
1
Brief Us on the Event
Tell us the event format, expected participant count, course type, and date. We'll ask a few questions about your run sheet and what mechanical support you've had in the past — then put together a package recommendation with a clear quote.

2
We Prep & Confirm
Once booked, we confirm mechanic allocation, parts inventory, and van logistics. We'll connect with your event manager in the week before the event to align on arrival time, setup location, communication channels, and any participant-specific considerations.

Mechanics On-Site, Athletes Focused
We arrive before participant registration, set up the mechanical station, and integrate with your event team. Athletes get pre-ride checks and know where to find us if something goes wrong on course. You run your event; we handle the mechanics.

Clear Pricing, No Race-Day Surprises

Event support is quoted per engagement. Pricing is based on the number of mechanics required, hours on-site, and whether a support vehicle is needed. Parts and consumables are charged at cost, itemised on your invoice.

All quotes include: travel within 60km of your city's CBD, tool kit and workstand, a standard parts kit, and a post-event report. Multi-day or multi-stage events receive a dedicated rate.

We're happy to work within event budgets — especially for community and club events. Reach out and let's talk through what's possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance do we need to book event support?
+
For major events (200+ participants), we recommend booking at least 4–6 weeks out to guarantee mechanic availability and allow adequate preparation. For smaller club events or rides, 1–2 weeks is usually sufficient. That said — if you have a last-minute need, always reach out. We'll do our best to accommodate.
How many mechanics do we need for our event?
+
As a general guide: 1 mechanic covers up to 150 participants for a standard pre-ride check and finish-line station. For neutral support on a longer course, you'll typically want 1 dedicated roving mechanic per 200–300 riders. For multi-discipline or multi-stage events, we'll discuss the right deployment based on your specific format. We'll recommend a configuration when you enquire.
Do you carry spare wheels and tyres?
+
We carry a range of spare tubes across common sizes and both valve types. We don't carry complete spare wheels as standard (wheel size and axle spec vary too widely), but for dedicated neutral support roles we can discuss pre-staging spare wheels with event organisers or team managers. Tubeless puncture plugs, tyre boots, and sidewall sealant are always on the van.
Can you provide branded mechanic stations or signage?
+
Yes — for larger events and corporate clients, we can work with your branding team to produce branded marquees, signage, and workwear. This is generally arranged 3+ weeks out. For standard events, our mechanics arrive in Mobile Bike Mechanics kit and set up a clean, professional-looking station that fits neatly into your event footprint.
Do you have public liability insurance?
+
Yes. Mobile Bike Mechanics carries public liability insurance to $20 million. Certificates of currency are available on request — most event insurers and venues require these as part of contractor documentation. Just ask when you book and we'll have it over to you promptly.
Can you support events outside major cities?
+
We cover events within approximately 60km of our city hubs (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra, and Gold Coast) as standard. For events beyond this radius, travel costs apply — but we regularly support events in regional areas and are happy to quote for the full logistics. Some of the best rides happen outside the city.
