Positions across all 7 cities  ·  Geofenced territories  ·  Work the suburbs you choose

Everything You Need to Run a Successful Mobile Workshop

MBM mechanics aren't employees — you run your own business, in your own city, on your own schedule. We provide the infrastructure that makes it work.

Full schedule flexibility

Work the hours that suit your life — early mornings, evenings, weekends, or standard hours. You control your calendar. No shift work, no roster, no manager looking over your shoulder.

Established network & bookings

You launch with the credibility of an established national network, an existing customer base in your city, and a booking system that brings work to you — not the other way around.

Your territory, your schedule

Our system matches jobs to your skills and your location — not across the city. Your territory is geofenced so you're working locally, not burning half the day in traffic. Set different territories for different days, so Monday can be the inner west and Thursday can be the north shore.

Marketing & local SEO

Your own city landing page, Google Business Profile support, and inclusion in MBM's national marketing. Customers in your area find you through the brand — not just word of mouth.

Network & community

You're not on your own. Connect with other MBM mechanics across the country — share knowledge, get advice, and be part of a community of people who love what they do.

Certification support

Access to Bosch, SRAM, RockShox, and FOX training pathways. We help mechanics in the network build their credentials — which means more services, higher rates, and more trust from customers.

Geofenced territories

Your jobs stay local. We geofence your working territory so you're not stuck in traffic across the city. Set different territories for different days — Monday inner west, Thursday north shore — and the system routes work accordingly.

Real Earning Potential

Mobile bike mechanics who run a full schedule can earn significantly more than a shop-employed technician — with none of the commute and full control over their time.

Earnings depend on your city, hours, and service mix. Mechanics who specialise in eBike servicing and suspension typically command the highest rates. The numbers below are indicative based on network data.

$80–120 Effective hourly rate Across standard services
$2,500+ Per week potential Full schedule, mixed services
4–6 Bikes per day typical Depending on service type
Zero Retail overhead No shop rent or staff costs

What MBM Provides

You bring the skills and the work ethic. We provide everything else that makes running a mobile business viable from day one.

Smart booking & territory system

Jobs are matched to your skills and routed within your geofenced territory. Customers book online — the right job goes to the right mechanic, in the right suburb, at the right time.

Branded city landing page

Your own page on the MBM site, optimised for local search in your suburbs. Includes your profile, reviews, and booking calendar.

Google review management

Automated review request workflows after each job. Your reputation builds itself while you focus on the work.

National network & marketing

Inclusion in MBM's national advertising, SEO, and social media presence. Customers find the network — you get the work.

Ongoing support & training

Access to MBM's knowledge base, certification pathways, and a network of experienced mechanics to learn from.

Mechanic FAQs

Is this employment or contracting?
MBM mechanics operate as independent contractors — you run your own business under the MBM network. You're responsible for your own ABN, insurance, and tax obligations. We're not an employer — we're the platform, network, and booking infrastructure that makes running your mobile business viable.
Are there any fees to join?
+
There are no upfront franchise or joining fees. MBM operates on a revenue-share model — details are discussed during the onboarding process. We're transparent about the structure before you commit to anything.
Do I need to be fully qualified or able to do everything?
+
No — and this is one of the things that sets MBM apart. You don't need to be a master technician or comfortable with every service type from day one. Our booking system matches jobs to mechanics based on your skills and preferences, so you only get the work you want to do. Whether you specialise in tune-ups, builds, eBikes, or suspension — or you're building your skills over time — there's a place for you in the network.
Do I need my own tools and vehicle?
+
You'll need a vehicle suitable for mobile work (van or station wagon with a bike stand and basic tool kit). If you don't have everything yet, we can discuss options — many mechanics build out their mobile workshop over time rather than all at once.
What cities are you currently hiring in?
+
We're always open to applications in all seven of our current cities — Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra, and Gold Coast. We're also actively planning expansion into new cities. If you're in a city not listed, apply anyway and tell us where you are.
How does the territory and geofencing work?
+
When you join the network, you set up your working territories — the suburbs you want to service. The booking system only assigns you jobs within those areas, so you're never travelling across the city to reach a customer. You can set different territories for different days, giving you full control over where you work and when. If you want to expand or change your territory, that's easy to update.
How long does the application process take?
+
We aim to respond to applications within two business days to set up an intro call. From there, a motivated applicant can be onboarded and taking bookings within two to three weeks — depending on setup requirements.
